 "In his talk Steve Goodman will return to themes from his book *Sonic Warfare* (2009), to explore of the production, transmission, and mutation of affective tonality or when sound helps produce a bad vibe. Drawing from contemporary examples, and traversing philosophy, science, fiction, and popular culture, Goodman will map a continuum of vibrational force, encompassing police and military research into acoustic means of crowd control, the corporate deployment of sonic branding, and the intense sonic encounters of sound art and music culture.

  

 Steve Goodman (aka Kode9) is a musician, writer and artist. He is the author of the book *Sonic Warfare* (MIT Press, 2009) and co-edited the books *Unsound: Undead* (Urbanomic, 2019), *Sonic Faction* (Urbanomic, 2024) and *Ø* (Flatlines Press, 2021) He is founder of the record labels Hyperdub and Flatlines."
