 "The exhibition NPCOMPANION brings together eight artistic practices that examine the hypothetical and symbolic presence of beings, companions, and objects from another sphere—a world that seems to exist beyond the artists’ conscious intent. The participating artists present beings on canvas, as objects and in drawings that elude traditional notions of control, narrative and representation. Instead, images emerge in which figures appear as autonomous participants—like so-called non-playable characters (NPCs) in digital games: uncontrollable, independent and full of a sense of their own self-existence."
