Artistic Assistant, Prof. Sebastian Tröger

Through her art, Johanna Gonschorek aims to connect different levels of perception, making contexts tangible in a variety of ways. She is interested in everyday situations, such as public places, discourse, and social spaces, as well as historical and political contexts and working with archives. The research-based approach, which combines sculptural and multimedia means, allows a great deal of freedom in terms of form and content. This is often based on feminist issues. By intertwining aesthetic and content-related levels and simultaneously directing them in several directions, spatial situations arise that, on the one hand, can be quickly classified and grasped cognitively through the use of clear references and, on the other hand, provide plenty of room for viewers to explore on their own. These levels are created through specifically chosen materials, sculptural settings, and the interweaving of research, text, and language.
