As part of your studies at the AdBK Munich, you can study at one of our partner universities. This list provides an overview of all partner universities (Art Education students please refer to the partners for ‘Fine Arts’).
As a rule, stays at partner universities are funded by an Erasmus+ scholarship.
You are also free to organise a so-called free mover stay on your own. In this case, you contact a university abroad yourself and organise the financing and general conditions of your studies abroad without the support of the International Office. New partnerships can only be established at the suggestion and with the cooperation of teaching staff.
Everything else you need to know for planning, researching and applying for a stay abroad with partner universities as part of Erasmus+ can be found under the following points.
- Regular enrolment at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich
- Existing agreement between the AdBK Munich and the desired partner university abroad
- You have not yet received 24 months of Erasmus funding
- Your main place of residence is not in the destination country

Please note that KOOR-Erasmus Services must receive your complete documents at least one month before the start of your study visit! Retroactive funding is not possible!
Please allow several weeks for the application process, as you will need to obtain various signatures from your host and home universities. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received or as soon as they are complete. This procedure is applied in all steps (issuing the grant agreement, instructing the first instalment, processing the final documents and paying out the second instalment) for reasons of equal treatment of all scholarship holders (m/f/d).

Double Funding
It is not permitted to receive an Erasmus grant and another EU grant or a DAAD grant at the same time! Erasmus funds can be combined with BAFöG, but are often offset against the BAFöG. Please contact the BAFöG office for more information.

When do I need to create an LA and where can I get the form?
You create a Learning Agreement (LA) when you receive confirmation from a partner university and register with our consortium partner KOOR for Erasmus+ funding. During the registration process, KOOR will provide you with a digital form for creating the LA.
Please include the contact details of the International Office in the Learning Agreement: Rebekka Sigl,
How do I create the LA?
1.) Fine Arts, Art Education and Master's in Architecture & Art
The procedure for the Learning Agreement and the credit transfer process for Fine Arts, Art Education and the Master's in Architecture & Art can be found in this document.
2.) Interior Design
The procedure for the Learning Agreement and the credit transfer process for the Bachelor's and Master's in Interior Design can be found in this document.
Before creating your LA, you must always check with the relevant examination office to find out whether you need to obtain certain certificates abroad in order to avoid being de-registered (e.g. in Fine Arts, all 4 certificates for the pre-diploma must be obtained before the 6th semester, etc.).
What exactly is a Learning Agreement?
An LA primarily serves to protect you and help you plan your studies. It sets out binding rules on which of the courses you take abroad will count towards your studies at the AdBK.
I already have all my certificates, do not wish to have any credits transferred, or am on leave of absence. Do I still have to draw up an LA?
You must always draw up an LA for Erasmus funding, otherwise you will not receive any funding. If you are on leave of absence, it is not possible to transfer any credits. Nevertheless, the LA must always be created. The LA can also state that the courses/credits taken abroad are not to be credited. To do this, put the abbreviation ‘FU’ (=fakultativer Unterricht= optional course) in front of each course and enter 0 ECTS for it. You can find more information on this under ‘What should the LA look like?’ in the PDF document instructions for your study course above.
How many ECTS credits do I need to achieve abroad, to receive Erasmus+ funding?
The AdBK does not require you to pass any courses or earn a minimum number of ECTS credits. However, the host partner universities often require you to enrol in courses worth at least 10-30 ECTS credits. You do not need to pass these courses in order to receive Erasmus+ funding from the AdBK. Of course, we really appreciate it when we can see that you are actively studying abroad!
The LA has been rejected. What should I do now?
In this case, the Learning Agreement will be reset and you will receive an information email. The courses can then be re-edited and the LA will be sent back to your home and host universities for signature.
If the LA has been rejected by your home university (the AdBK), please be sure to read the instructions provided above. We usually send a reason for rejection, which you will need to correct. If the Learning Agreement has been rejected by the host university, please follow their recommendations for changes.
Can I still change the LA during the semester?
After the start of the semester abroad, you can change courses, e.g. because courses are not taking place or you have found a more interesting offer. You can also add new courses or delete them completely. To do so, follow the same procedure as when you initially created the Learning Agreement and find the digital form again in your “application workflow” in the KOOR Mobility Online Portal.
I still have questions about the LA – who can help me?
If you have any further questions about the Learning Agreement, please send an email to
If you have technical problems, please contact
The language requirements of our partner universities range from a C1 level, which must be proven with an official certificate, to an informal statement like “English is sufficient”. In the Responsive Portal – a directory of our partners – you will find detailed information on the admission requirements for many partner universities. If no information is provided there, you will usually find detailed information on the website of the respective partner university.
As a general rule, we recommend that you have at least basic language skills for everyday use in the language of your destination country before you go abroad.
Once you have been awarded an Erasmus+ scholarship, you can receive up to €130 in additional funding to improve your language skills.
KOOR-Erasmus Services offers a range of courses and workshops to help you prepare for your stay abroad. Participation is not compulsory, but it is a great opportunity to improve your language skills, for example.
KOOR's offerings include:
- Free online language courses with the OLS language portal
- Language support: Financial subsidy of up to 130 Euro for self-study materials and self-organised language courses
- Hands-on learning! Online course on intercultural preparation
- Intercultural training in person and online
Detailed information can be found here.
An ERASMUS+ mobility grant does not include insurance coverage. If you receive funding from ERASMUS+, you are required to provide proof of health insurance, international health insurance, accident insurance and liability insurance that meet certain criteria – among other things, your international health insurance must also cover pandemic cases. Please check with your insurance company in good time. Alternatively, you can take out discounted group insurance, e.g. through the DAAD.

After consultation, it is possible to extend your stay abroad for another semester. Please contact us in good time (i.e. at least one month before the end of the current semester) to apply for an extension. Please submit the written consent of the host university to us. You can then submit a new application to KOOR. It is essential that you inform us of any extension or changes! Email:
Please also notify the International Office and the Student Secretariat immediately of any other changes that occur during your study visit, such as the termination of your study visit.
