"In this talk, Omar Barquet will approach his experience as a Caribbean and Mexican artist, and share about his interdisciplinary practice, as showcased through his project titled Ghost Variations. This project stems from the visual arts, but is also inspired by other disciplines, such as poetry, sound and landscaping. His approach is ingrained in his Caribbean upbringing, the antique world, and its points of contact with the European Romantic tradition, mainly through the exploration of the storm and its transforming effect.

Mexican based artist Omar Barquet (*1979 in Chetumal, México) holds a degree in Fine Arts from "La Esmeralda“ CNA México. Barquet has received numerous awards, including the Young Artists Fellowship in Painting and Printmaking from FONCA and the MACG - Bancomer Arte Actual Grant in 2009.
