"This talk focuses on Un/Making and Holding Surplus House. Drawing on these two artistic research projects, Åsa Ståhl will share ways of working that combine matters of fact, matters of concern, and matters of care. The talk builds on decades of work on care, participatory processes involving more-than-human actors, and situated world-building.

Åsa Ståhl (PhD) is professor of design at HDK-Valand, Gothenburg University, Sweden. Her work combines participatory design with feminist technoscience and environmental posthumanities in explorations and speculations of how to make and know caring, liveable worlds. Ståhl has led the artistic research project Holding Surplus House and co-leads the artistic research environment Design after Progress: Reimagining Design Histories and Futures together with Kristina Lindström and Li Jönsson. With her long-term collaborator Kristina Lindström, she runs the Un/Making Studio that is built on two decades of collaborations between the two of them and others. Ståhl is also part of the research team in the Earth Logic Design project, focusing on cultural entrepreneurship."
