Within the format of a lecture-conversation with Alexandra Pirici, Catherine Wood will offer an introduction into Performance, situating performative practices not only as contemporary shifts from object to action within the western art-historical canon, but as an old, fundamental part of a history of art-making focused on movement and interconnectivity, preceding modern notions of art and museum display. Furthermore, she will speak about the general transformation of visual art institutions prompted by artists working in the intermedial field of performance, using examples of turning points from the museal history of Tate Modern in particular.
The lecture will be followed by an open conversation with the students.
* Catherine Wood will be present online, via zoom. The lecture will be held in English.
