Scenography and Stage Costume Design
Artistic Assistant: Stephanie Zimmer
Portrait of the class
"Scenography and Stage Costume Design is an interdisciplinary form of art that combines performing and visual arts. The aim of the course is to develop independent, reflective artistic positions. Students learn how to design theatrical spaces and how to conceive and implement complex, narrative spatial concepts. In doing so, the development of their own artistic signature is just as important as a critical and aesthetic examination of the content of our present. This examination also includes discourses on the future development of theater, questions of sustainable design, and the contextual classification of their own work in social and cultural contexts. The stage design and costume class offers an open and equally protected framework for artistic experimentation and research, in which students are supported in finding and developing their own artistic identity." - Prof. Judith Oswald
