"Fátima Rodrigo’s practice explores the intersections between modernity, popular culture, and gender identity in Latin America. Through installation, textiles, sculpture, and sound, she traces how European avant-garde languages were absorbed, translated, and reimagined through television, music, entertainment, and other forms of everyday visual culture, revealing the complex negotiations between local and global imaginaries.

Drawing on long-term research into twentieth-century media and design, Rodrigo creates immersive environments and interactive installations. Through beads, sequins, metallic threads, and industrial textiles, her work questions conventional distinctions that historically separate “traditional” from “avant-garde'' artistic expressions, while highlighting the contributions of popular culture, women, and queer performers to the construction of alternative modern visual languages.

Fátima Rodrigo (Lima, Peru) is a visual artist working across mixed-media installation, sculpture, textile, sound, and scenographic environments.
She studied Fine Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and has participated in international residency programs including Art Explora – Cité des Arts (Paris), Atelier Mondial (Basel), Gasworks (London), Flora Ars + Natura (Bogotá), and Pro Helvetia (Switzerland). Her work has been presented in major international exhibitions including the Liverpool Biennial (2023), the 22nd Biennale of Sydney (2020), Ars Electronica (2020), and the Mercosur Biennial (2025).
