"Zwischenmenschliche Begegnungen verlagern sich zunehmend in den digitalen Raum. Gespräche, Einkäufe, Partnersuche und vieles mehr finden online statt. Ganze Welten werden sogar aus binären Codes erbaut. Dabei geht automatisch ein Großteil der Haptik und Taktilität verloren – und damit besteht die Gefahr, auch Intimität zu verlieren. Genau hier setzt die Ausstellung an, insbesondere im Kontext von Dating-Apps und Sex.
Mittels Zeichnung, Text und Dokumentation setzen sich beide Künstler:innen mit intimen Beziehungen auseinander, wobei sich Verflechtungen und Hierarchien offenbaren. Diese sind zwar nicht komplett zu eliminieren, aber umso wichtiger ist es, sich ihrer bewusst zu sein. Der Umgang miteinander sollte stets reflektiert werden. In Wirklichkeit sind Projektion, enttäuschte Erwartungen und entfremdete Formen der Intimität miteinander verflochten; dennoch sehnen wir uns nach Zuwendung und können nicht anders, als zu fragen: Do you care for me, as much as I care for you?
Interpersonal encounters are increasingly shifting into the digital realm. Conversations, shopping, partner search and much more take place online. Entire worlds are emerging from binary code. In the process, much of the physicality and tactility is automatically lost – and with it comes the risk of losing intimacy as well. This is precisely where the exhibition’s focus lies, particularly in the context of dating apps and sex. Through drawing, text and documentation, both artists explore intimate relationships, revealing the interconnections and hierarchies within them. Whilst these cannot be completely eliminated, it is all the more important to be aware of them. We should constantly reflect on how we treat one another. In reality, projection, frustrated expectations and alienated forms of intimacy are intertwined; yet we still long to be cared for and cannot help but ask: Do you care for me, as much as I care for you?"
