"radio fantasma hides in plain sight. Its frequency is concealed by an antimemetic layer which smells like Abercrombie and Fitch’s signature fragrance Authentic Moment. Finding or recognizing is a matter of fine tuning.
radio fantasma presents individual and collaborative works of Hanne Kaunicnik and Mary Schulz-Helbach. The exhibition reworks memory and its loss through a pop-cultural perspective, dealing with ufology and broader space related fantasy and how it bleeds into mainstream media: The X-Files.
Following a journalist’s account of their visit to a ufology information broadcast office, the exhibition space is redesigned to mimic the idea of this underground radio station with 1) a glass floor 2) low hanging lightboxes replacing actual lamps 3) transparent transmission and receiving as well as recording devices, patched together.
Form follows function, while function follows intent. Materially it aims for maximum understanding with maximum transparency."
