"Jana Winderen is an artist based in Norway with a background in mathematics, chemistry, and fish ecology. Her practice pays particular attention to acoustic environments and to beings that are difficult for humans to access, both physically and aurally: deep underwater, inside ice, or within frequency ranges inaudible to the human ear. Her work includes site-specific and spatial sound installations and concerts, which have been exhibited and performed internationally in major institutions and public spaces. In 2011 she won the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica for Digital Musics & Sound Art, her audio-visual works have been released via Touch (UK). In the public talk ‘here: this place II,’ Jana Winderen will address two recent sound works in detail: ‘here: this place’ (Momentum 13, Moss, 2025) and ‘Meet the Locals: Underwater’ (Bergen Assembly, Bergen, 2025).
This talk is part of 'Vectors Signals Fields: Recording On Different Scales' a seminar jointly organized by Sound und Experiment at the ADBK and the Sound Art MA at the HMTM."
*The lecture will be held in English.
