"Clémentine Deliss is an independent curator whose practice intersects the fields of contemporary art, critical anthropology, and curatorial experimentation. She is internationally recognized for her seminal work across different platforms including publishing, arts observatories, exhibitions and research on subjects as varied as the post ethnographic, African modernism, future academies, and interventionist practices in the visual arts. She has taught at numerous art colleges in Europe, is Global Humanities Professor of History of Art at the University of Cambridge, and was Associate Curator at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin between 2020 and 2023. She lives in Berlin.
In her talk, Clémentine Deliss will examine her current work as Curator-at-Large at KANAL–Centre Pompidou (Bruxelles) and reflect on the evolving framework of the Metabolic Museum–University. Drawing on her experience with collections, she will address broader questions of curatorial responsibility, institutional transformation, and the potential of museums as spaces of rehearsal and critical pedagogy. She expands how artists understand risk and contention—both within their own practices and in relation to historical, often disputed collections. Special attention will be given to the acts of collecting and ordering objects, and how these practices shape knowledge, power, and public memory."
*The talk will be held in English.
