"With Testing Facility, Rosa Stern Space e.V. activates a former Siemens research lab, its cable systems, shielded rooms, and test setups still intact, as a site for artistic experimentation. The exhibition takes testing as its central motif: embracing uncertainty, risk, and open-ended processes.
Just as scientific and technological tests expose friction points to produce knowledge, the exhibited works linger in states of becoming. They appear as tactile thought models, dummies that reveal stress and fragility, questioning what our present can endure and where it might break. In a time marked by climatic, political, and social tension, testing becomes both method and diagnosis: we examine what still holds, and what no longer does.
For Rosa Stern Space e.V., this exhibition reconnects with the institution’s origins as a fluid, experimental structure. Testing Facility extends this spirit into a new phase, allowing spontaneous collaborations, shifting configurations, and works that remain in motion. Rather than offering a finished statement, the exhibition becomes a stress test for artistic practice and collective action, an invitation to explore resilience, renegotiate boundaries, and imagine alternative futures.
