Grooves

Grooves examines the relation between space and the human body.

Buildings operate as regulating systems. Movement is guided, orientation functions automatically, decisions are anticipated spatially. The body passes through without noticing that it is negotiating.

The work focuses on a threshold. An existing spatial reference is displaced without being removed. The form remains legible, but its reliability shifts.

The neck - connecting head and body - functions as a compressed spatial joint between guidance and working space. Direction changes, movement slows, certainty weakens. A tilted arch appears.

Passing through is no longer neutral. Progression is expected, but not fully confirmed. Orientation hesitates. What is usually automatic becomes momentarily unstable.

Grooves operates through precise incisions. It subtly disturbs the habitual alignment between body and space, reopening it as a field of negotiation.
