The project class will center around the impact and changing values of emotion on contemporary society, alongside the battle to adequately circulate, instrumentalize, and assign physical place of presence to feeling. In particular, they will address the vast effect of infrastructure and networked systems, driven by digital communication in the last 25 years, on human subjectivity and perception of collective experience. Contextual aesthetics, non-binary thinking, and the expansion of materiality will be examined as avenues of possibility to imagine productive ways of navigating affect and power.
