Hito Steyerl, Francis Hunger | Vortrag
Datum & Uhrzeit: Mo | 15.04.2024 | 19:30 Uhr
Ort: Akademie der Bildenden Künste München | Akademiestr. 2
Raum: Altbau | Historische Aula

Hito Steyerl and Francis Hunger will introduce the Emergent Digital Media class by way of some of their previous works focusing on machine learning, databases, and other algorithmic and data-driven technologies and their social consequences. Steyerl’s work Broken Windows (2017), for instance, talks about disruption as a tool to create highly policed, blighted urban neighborhoods. Hunger's Adversarial.io (2021-23) added specifically calculated adversarial noise to image material, in order to make it machine-unreadable. Building on these and other works, Hunger and Steyerl will discuss some of the most urgent issues around so-called Artificial ‚Intelligence‘ and lay out their plans for the Emergent Digital Media class.

Hito Steyerl holds the professorship for the new Emergent Digital Media starting this summer semester.

Hito Steyerl is an artist and writer and lives in Berlin.
