In this lecture, artist/musician Luke Calzonetti examines and introduces a particular set of qualities within contemporary music where extended/unorthodox musical techniques lend to walls of sound which are particularly unburdened by ideas of romanticism, sentimentalism and/or conventional melodic idioms. From mid-century electronic music to contemporary improvisational grindcore, Calzonetti brings together a disparate selection of composers, bands and groups to congeal this identification.
Luke Calzonetti is an American artist and musician currently residing in Brussels, Belgium. He has released sound recordings on labels such as In Paradisum, Meakusma, Opal Tapes. His last visual art presentation ‘Super K Sha-La-La’ was presented by JUBG Cologne in April 2023.
